According to Marshall Raskind, Ph.D., at : http://www.mindsodyssey.com/expert_raskind.pdf in his article “Research Reveals Success Attributes in Kids with Learning Disabilities”, makes the connection between an individual’s self-awareness of their strengths and weaknesses and their success on the job.
An example Dr. Raskind gives for this lack of ‘Niche Picking Skills’, was of an individual with terrible spatial relations skills and visual problems, and was determined to be an airline pilot.
Niche picking also involves loss and compensation on a continuum throughout an individual’s life.
